My Neighborhood

I live on Sixth Avenue in the Richmond District. Some parts of my neighborhood are boring. I barely see another person unless they are throwing out the garbage. Everything seems gloomy because of the lack of pedestrians. When I do see someone, they tend to ignore me.

Even though people aren’t especially friendly, there are a lot of different kinds of people in my neighborhood. Mexican, Asian, and white families live on my block. My family is one of the only African American families I know in the Richmond. There was one other black man, but he died. It’s pretty interesting. When I walk down the street, I see people crossing the street to avoid walking near me. I think it’s because they are scared of me.

Except for me (Ha Ha) my neighborhood is pretty safe. However, this wierd thing happened one time. I remember when it was New Years '07, it seemed everyone was having a great time and no was getting in trouble. But then this teenage girl was thrown against my garage door .The next day there was blood and I guess her hair and there was glass. We washed garage door and replaced the glass.

Beyond the occasional excitement, there are some random things to do in my neighborhood. If it’s hot, people might open a fire hydrant and have water fights. Golden Gate Park is just down the street and there are a lot of trees and museums. My favorite museum in the park is the Academy of Science. I can barely wait to go there since it reopened.
